Reflections From a CVS Health Pharmacy Resident

This year was full of amazing experiences for our Pharmacy Residents. With a year of residency under their belts, they will be honing the knowledge and skills they’ve gained, and embarking on new journeys to advance their careers.

We asked each of the residents to reflect on the year they’ve had and how far they’ve gotten with the help of their residency directors and various preceptors. They also share their next steps after residency. We will be highlighting a few here on the CVS Health Careers Blog over the next couple of weeks.

Today, we hear from Corey Wilson – Specialty Pharmacy Resident (Northbrook, IL).

I have many great memories from my residency with CVS Health. I’ve learned so much about managed care, pharmacy as a whole, and I have developed a better understanding of CVS’ role in the health care space. My favorite experience throughout the year has been helping to recruit pharmacy students for next year’s resident position. I enjoyed being able to meet with students and learn more about their interests in managed care and specialty pharmacy.

After the residency, I will stay in Chicago and continue with CVS Health as a Clinical Advisor on the employer side.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have any specific exciting plans for the summer outside of the usual. I like staying in the Midwest for the summers, and my weekends are usually filled with Chicago Cubs games, going to festivals in the city, visiting my family in Wisconsin, going camping with my friends, and playing softball and flag football.

I would like to thank my residency director, Jen Jagodzinski, last year’s specialty resident, Mike Gannon, my preceptors throughout the year Erin Simmons, Amy Thompson, Mohamad Yassine, Nancy Cotter, Jennifer O’Brien, Kelly McAuliff, Michelle Jay, Kheelan Gopal, Josh Fredell, Byron Neal, Brad Stevens, Kavita Dave, and Daisy Amman, along with all of the pharmacists at the Mount Prospect Specialty Pharmacy. My residency would not have been nearly as beneficial if it wasn’t for all of your help and support.

If you are considering a career as a Pharmacist, I encourage you to see what CVS Health has to offer. CVS is truly a place where you can make a difference and grow your career in whichever direction you desire.
